Baby Skin Care: 3 Do-It-Yourself Totally Natural Tips

Moisturizer: This is about as simple as it gets’apricot oil. Rich in fatty acids and vitamins A, C and E, apricot oil is extremely gentle and light and soaks in quickly. Use organic food-grade apricot oil’the kind you find in the culinary oil section of your local natural products store. This ensures it’s pure apricot oil and is safe enough to put in your body, so it’s safe enough for your baby’s skin. Apply liberally after baby’s bath.

Wipes: For an alternative to disposable wipes, try washcloths and water. Simply buy a few bundles of inexpensive baby washcloths and fill a reusable squeeze bottle with water and keep these by the changing table. Add a squirt of water to the cloth, wipe, and toss into a hamper. You can add a drop or two of tea tree essential oil to the water for its antibacterial benefits.

Powder: If you live in hot, humid climates, baby powder can be essential to avoid rashes. We like arrowroot powder because it is better for sensitive skin than cornstarch or talc. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil and mix well with fingers. Store in an old spice jar with a shaker top.
