This is a very heartening story indeed and I wholeheartedly applaud Dr Todd and his team' efforts, including his son's.

I have recently been skimming over and gradually deepening my understanding of the eco-industry's opportunities in he field of P-retrieval from wastes.

As far as I can see, there is no problem on the whole with livestock, especially in organic husbanding, however, human wastes suffer from high levels of contamination, especially in 'developed' Nations, where our intake of pharmaceuticals - I am specifically referring to oestrogens and progesterone, in contraceptives, but a bewildering range of man-made 'biopharmas'may be included - some heavy metals and, almost universally, sodium chloride (salt).

Naturally, in a self-sufficient setting, where a single family may be involved, this isn't going to be a huge problem, but where we begin to consider mass processing of sewage sludge, it could be. Sodium chloride is a particularly intractable problem, as far as I can see, as methods involving reverse osmosis, charcoal filtration, solar distillation etc., will also result in filtering out the precious NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium).

I wondered whether Dr Todd & Son have come up with cost-effective methods to separate out the chloride and other undesirables?

Best regards to all.

It has been an incredible privilege to work with Dr. John Todd, whom I have long admired, on our Agroforestry Project in Costa Rica: Food, Fuel and Income to Sustain Local Communities. We are actively working to find funding to continue this wonderful project, which could have a tremendous impact on communities in countries such as Kenya to support local communities, provide right livelihood, regenerate ecosystems and sequester carbon. This model designed by Dr. Todd will demonstrate the importance of remineralization as a key strategy to stabilize the climate so that we can begin to initiate similar projects worldwide.

We were recently invited to write the chapter on remineralization for a book on DVD called the Green Disc that was given to all delegations at the UN Climate Summit In Copenhagen and was sponsored by a committee at the UN.

Please consider becoming a member, making a contribution and in various ways joining forces with us and our mission. Please feel welcome to contact me at Jcampe@remineralize.org to see how you can make a difference! Thank you for your support.

Imagine if we had a process to remove billions of tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere safely, quickly and cost-effectively - while at the same time reversing desertification, boosting biodiversity, enhancing global food security and improving the lives of hundreds of millions of people in rural and regional areas around our planet?

We do - it's called changed grazing management and soil carbon.

Please take a look at the presentations on www.soilcarbon.com.au to learn more.
