Over 300,000 People Tell the FDA to Label GMOs
02 Nov, 2011
October has ended and with it the first month of the Just Label It campaign, with spectacular results. Over 300,000 people have signed the petition to compel the FDA to do its fiduciary duty and require labeling of foods that contain GMO ingredients.
More than 450 partner companies and organizations have been participating in this push, including Natural Vitality and Organic Connections.
But a lot more still has to be done. Over 300,000 signatures is a fantastic start.
November is a month that brings with it even more association with food and healthy eating. The national event of Thanksgiving can also serve as a springboard for increasing the demand for safe and healthy foods.
We Are the Real Power
Remember, as massive and powerful as the multinational Biotech companies are, they are only as powerful as we grant them access to our wallets. There is not a company on the face of the planet that can stand up to consumer preference. This is of course why these same companies are so vehemently opposed to labeling foods that contain their products.
Another thing to remember is that not everyone in agencies like the FDA and USDA have been bought off by these companies.
Despite our (justifiable) cynical view of the corruption insinuated into these agencies by the covert and egregious actions of the Biotech giants, a large majority of the staff at the agencies are well-meaning, caring individuals with a sense of duty. But they are sometimes fighting battles against strategically placed cronies and need the empowerment that our collective voices can generate.
So, let’s keep up the push and redouble the relaying of this message to your friends and their friends, everyone we know that wants to eat healthy, safe foods.
Being part of a medical experiment usually requires informed consent on the part of the participant. The Biotech giants have been subjecting the entire food-buying public of this country and Canada to a science experiment for more than a decade and a half.
Wouldn’t you say it’s time to shut down Dr. Frankenfood’s lab?
