Yes, let's put more traffic in the air! Birds, bats, insects, etc have too much room there already! And everybody else will also enjoy the brumming and humming of engines from above. Just kidding.... Why do we have to go so fast to wherever we think we want to go, every time we think we want to? Isn't this yet another way to de-root ourselves from the planet? You can give me such 'tool' as a present, and I promise not to use it (as I do with the cell phone I got). Please come up with another great invention that can only be built by people with great talent, but come up with one that keeps people more grounded and the planet a little more protected from its human population? Bring it on!

This is an awesome idea in theory; I only see a couple problems. Unfortunately, they're not at all related to the end product, but to circumstance.

1) Know those terrible drivers on your morning commute every day? Would you really trust them with something that flies? As our driving education unfortunately proves, training does not equal competence.

2) Traffic on our roads tends to be more dense near major metropolitan areas. Unfortunately, our busiest airports are near major metropolitan areas. Samson Motor Works is undoubtedly in business to make money (or they wouldn't charge $65K, and I could afford one!), so they'd obviously like to sell as many of these as possible. If tons of Switchblades are flying around in relative proximity to a major airport, and then an airliner comes on down, I just can't picture that ending well for the Switchblade(s). Wake turbulence is bad news!

All that being said, I really like the concept. I'd LOVE to own one, but I just don't see these being effective for beating traffic on the commute (this is of course assuming the widespread adoption that I'm sure Samson would like!). I do however think these would be awesome for quick weekend getaways, and if nothing else, for making aviation that much cheaper and more accessible to the average person.
